Joshua G. Banda is a highly motivated and results-driven senior accounting and financial management executive with over 23 years of experience in financial and management accounting within a global financial institution. He excels in streamlining business processes, implementing financial controls, and driving productivity improvements. Joshua possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling him to establish rapport at all organizational levels.
In his professional career, Joshua has held several key positions. He is currently serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Airtel Mobile Commerce Limited since January 2024. Previously, he was an Executive Director at Citibank Zambia Limited from 2016 to 2022 and the Chief Financial Officer at Citibank Zambia Ltd from 2014 to 2022. His role as Finance Manager at Citibank Zambia Ltd spanned from 2005 to 2014, and he began his career there as a Management Associate from 1999 to 2002.
Throughout his career, Joshua has been responsible for overseeing financial accounting and management information systems, analyzing and reviewing strategic plans, ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, and supervising finance and controllership functions. He has also implemented internal controls and risk management procedures to maintain the integrity of financial operations.
Joshua has participated in various systems design and implementation projects, including the Procure to Pay (P2P) system and the Kwacha Rebasing Project. He also led the migration to a new financial reporting system, Flexcube. Outside of Citibank, he has served as the Principal Officer for the Citibank Zambia Pension Scheme and was a member of the Citibank Pension Scheme Board of Trustees. His early career included roles as an intern and accounts clerk at the Bank of Zambia and Chilanga Cement PLC.
Joshua holds a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, UK, obtained in 2013. He is a Chartered Management Accountant and an Associate member of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA) in the UK since 2004. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from The Copperbelt University in Zambia in 1998 and is a fellow member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (FZICA).
